Morris continues record breaking streak at Volunteer Track Classic

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman senior Aubrey Morris (Chattanooga, Tenn.) continued her streak of breaking a school record in every individual race she has participated in this season during the weekend in the Volunteer Track Classic at Tom Black Track on the campus of the University of Tennessee.

The inaugural meet featured women's teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio State and C-N. Morris finished ahead of every runner from Alabama and Tennessee to claim third place in the 3,000 meter run and break her own school record by eight seconds.

Lady Eagles junior Catelyn Dake (Knoxville, Tenn.) also set a school record in the 800 meter run, which featured NCAA champion Sarah Bowman from Tennessee. Dake captured seventh place, breaking Jennifer Sauceman's old mark (April 12, 2002) by five seconds.

Other Lady Eagle participants in the Volunteer Track Classic were: Brittany Sealey (Chattanooga, Tenn.) in the long jump and 4 x 100 meter relay, Charlita Russell (Chattanooga, Tenn.) in the 200 meter dash and 4 x 100 meter relay, Chelsie Woods (Bristol, Va.) in the long jump and 4 x 100 meter relay, Markia Johnson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) in the 4 x 100 meter relay, Allyson Corhn (Hendersonville, N.C.) in the high jump, Kelsey Fleck (Celina, Ohio) in the shot put, Kellan Clay (Jefferson City, Tenn.) in the 400 meter dash and Cara Hawkins (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) in the 1,500 meter run.

The C-N men's and women's teams run next in the Southeast Regional Championship on Friday and Saturday at Lenoir-Rhyne in Hickory, N.C.
