Women Finish Third in 2008 SAC Women's Championship

CHAPIN, S.C. - The Carson-Newman women's cross country team finished third Saturday in the 2008 South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship.
Lenoir-Rhyne University claimed the championship title with a score of 32 points, followed by Wingate, Carson-Newman, Catawba, Mars Hill, Newberry and Tusculum.
The Lady Eagles were led by senior Aubrey Morris. Morris earned SAC Women's Runner of the Year honors for the second year in a row, as she covered the 5k course in a time of 18:35. The win marked her sixth on the year and earned her first team All-SAC honors.
In men's action, the Eagles finished sixth in the 2008 SAC Men's Cross Country Championship.
Mars Hill claimed men's championship with a score of 31 points, followed by Wingate, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial, Tusculum, Carson-Newman, Newberry and Brevard.
The 2008 South Atlantic Conference Championships marked the end of the Carson-Newman's successful cross country season.
