Carson-Newman Fourth After Day One of Will Wilson/Southeast Regional Preview
CLEMMONS, N.C. — The Carson-Newman men’s golf team
is in fourth place after Sunday’s opening round of the Will
Wilson/Southeast Regional Preview, hosted by Belmont Abbey at
Tanglewood Park Golf Club.
The Eagles battled temperatures in the forties and wind gusts up
the 30 miles per hour to shoot a team score of 298 (+18).
C-N is just four shots back of first-place Belmont Abbey, who
turned in a 294 (+14). Mount Olive (296) and Lander (297) are in
second and third place, respectively, while Barton and Newberry are
tied for fifth after each shooting a 299.
Senior Brad Robinson (Johnson City, Tenn.) carded a two-over 72 to
lead the Eagles and finish the day in a tie for seventh.
C-N junior Chase Conn (Mason, Ohio) is in a tie for 14th place
after firing a 74 (+4), while Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) turned
in a 75 to finish the round in a tie for 23rd.
Eagles junior John Minor Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.) shot a 77 and is
in a tie for 41st place, and Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) is in a
tie for 68th after carding an 81.
C-N will return to the course for the second round on Monday at
8:30 a.m.
