Etowah, N.C. - The Carson-Newman Eagles fired a 298 (+10) to finish in third in the rain-shortened Aramark Collegiate Invitational played at Etowah Valley Country Club in Etowah, N.C. Tuesday's final round of the 36-hole event was rained out, leaving Monday's only round as the final results.
South Atlantic Conference foe and host institution Brevard College won the event with a 291 (+3). Barton College finished second at 294 (+6).
The Eagles beat four other South Atlantic Conference schools. Wingate University closed just three strokes behind C-N.
Junior Brad Robinson (Johnson City, Tenn.) finished in a tie for eighth after opening with a 73 (+1). He fired a 35 on the front nine, but closed with a 38 on the back to slip out of the top three spots.
Freshman Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) completed his round a stroke behind Robinson after shooting a 74 (+2). He also struggled on the back after a front-nine 34.
Junior Cory Hinchey (Abingdon, Va.) also had a similar round, firing 36-39 to card a 75 (+3).
Sophomore Blake Howard (Johnson City, Tenn.) posted a 76 (+4) for the fourth Eagles score.
Etowah Valley Country Club will serve as the host course for next week's South Atlantic Conference Championships.
