HAMPTON, Ga. - The Carson-Newman Eagles finished in sole possession of sixth place at the 54-hole State Farm Laker Collegiate, played earlier this week at the Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club in Hampton, Ga. Junior Brad Robinson (Johnson City, Tenn.) finished in second place with a three-day 212 (-4). He closed one shot off the pace set by medalist Jordan Walor of UNC-Pembroke. Robinson struggled out of the gates on Day 3, starting three-over par in his first five holes, but rallied to get his final round back to even. As a team, the Eagles struggled to a final round 299, but still finished within striking distance of the second-place UNC-Pembroke (+6). The gulf South's West Florida won the tournament at even par (864). Sophomore Blake Howard (Johnson City, Tenn.) finished in a tie for 24th with a 220 (+4), to finish nine strokes back. Sophomore Adam Holt (Liverpool, England) battled to finish in a tie at 42nd with a 224 (+8), while sophomore Cory Hinchey (Abingdon, Va.) turned in a 230 (+11). Freshman Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) closed with a disappointing 80, after back-to-back 75's to open the tournament, to finish tied for 67th. The Eagles will compete at the Cougar Invitational in Columbus, Ga. on Oct. 6-7. The 36-hole event hosted by Columbus State with be played at The Country Club of Columbus.
