Mars Hill Drops Eagles, 5-1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Mars Hill College won the top three singles matches to beat Carson-Newman Tuesday afternoon at the Goodfriend Tennis Center at the University of Tennessee, 5-1. The match was moved indoors after rain moved into the Jefferson City area.

With the win, Mars Hill improves to 5-3 over and 3-1 in South Atlantic Conference play, while C-N falls to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in SAC play.

The Lions took two doubles points, before rolling through the top three spots in singles for the win.

MHC's Alessandro Du Besse outlasted Giuseppe Schwarz at No. 1 singles, 6-2,6-7,6-1 to set the tone.

Mars Hill's Koeche Smith would beat C-N's Jack Harvie 6-1,6-0 at No. 2 and Taylan Batuk defeated Trent Slagle 7-6,6-0 at No. 3 to win the match.

The final three singles matches were pulled off the court.
