Carson-Newman Womens Golf Claims Fifth in Wendys Invitational
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Carson-Newman women’s golf
team finished in fifth place in the Wendy’s Invitational at
Coosaw Creek Golf Club on Tuesday with a two-round total of 629
(+61).
The Lady Eagles tallied a second-round score of 313 and were the
top Division II finisher in the tournament field, which included
mostly Division I competition.
Coastal Carolina shot a one-over 285 on Tuesday to capture the team
championship with a two-round total of 586. Coastal
Carolina’s Aruka Felgueroso fired a five-under 66 on the
final day to take home medalist honors.
C-N senior Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) shaved off
five strokes from her first round score and turned in a one-over 72
to finish the tournament in a tie for sixth with a 149 (+7). Lady
Eagle sophomore Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) entered the clubhouse
with a 78 on Tuesday, giving her a two-day total of 153 to finish
in a tie for 10th.
Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) tied for 31st with a 162, while
Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) (170) and Melanie Manis
(Louisville, Tenn.) (171) finished in a tie for 51st and 53rd,
respectively, for the Lady Eagles.
The final round of the Wendy’s Invitational wrapped up the
fall portion of the Lady Eagles’ schedule.
