Carson-Newman Finishes Seventh At Ashland Desert Invitational
MESA, Ariz. – The Lady Eagle golf team finished the Ashland Desert Invitational in seventh place Thursday after shooting a +35 (319), moving up one spot from Monday’s finish. The tournament was held at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., and featured six nationally-ranked teams in the eight-team field.
Cal-State Monterey Bay took home team championship honors, carding a 322-302 624 (+56) over the 36-hole tournament. Carla Cooper of Tarleton State was the medalist as she shot a +5 (147) for the two-day event.
Carson-Newman senior Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) finished in a tie for second place with Courtney Soekland of Cal-State Monterey Bay, five strokes off the lead at 152 (+10).
The Lady Eagles will next compete at Wingate’s Hargett Memorial Invitational on March 29-30 in Monroe, N.C.
