Lady Eagles Fifth, Tarbet Tied for First After Opening Round of NCAA Super Region 2 Tournament

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Carson-Newman women's golf team shot 313 (+29) to finish in fifth place after the first round of the NCAA Division II Super Region 2 Tournament on Sunday at the Country Club of Salisbury.

Junior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) led the way for C-N as she fired a 1-over 72 to finish the day in a three-way tie for first.

The Lady Eagles are nine shots back of tournament leaders Nova Southeastern and Florida Southern, which both shot 304 (+20) on Sunday.

Rollins (308) and Barry (309) are in third and fourth place, respectively.

Sophomore Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) is in a tie for 15th after turning in a 77 (+6), while freshman Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) shot a 79 (+8) to finish in a tie for 21st.

Senior Sarah Jane Sinard (White Pine, Tenn.) shot an 85 and is in a tie for 40th.

Rollins' Joanna Coe and Lynn's Maha Haddioui each carded a 72 to tie Tarbet for the lead.

The second round will be played on Monday, and the final round will be played on Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with one of those teams will advance to the NCAA Championship.
