C-N’s Ray fires a 74 in second round to climb to 30th at NCAA Super Regional
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Carson-Newman senior Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) made five birdies en route to shooting a 2-over 74 during Tuesday's second round at the 2012 NCAA D-II Women's Golf Super Regional Two. Ray is 30th after two rounds in the 54-hole event, which is being held at Stonebrook Golf Club just outside of the Pensacola area.
Ray had five birdies to bounce back from an 84 in Sunday's round and climb into the Top 30. The senior had three birdies on her opening nine to shoot an even-par 36 on the front side, before slipping with a 2-over 38 on the back. She was one under on her round after back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes, before double bogeying the 16th to have round jump back above par.
Ray is four strokes out of the Top 15 after a two-round total of 158.
Playing as an individual, Ray is in the first tee time for Tuesday's final round. She will tee off at 8:30 a.m.
Nova Southeastern's Lilliana Camisa leads the event at 3-under par (141) through 36 holes.
In the team results, South Atlantic Conference foe Tusculum is seventh and Newberry is eighth.
