Lady Eagles finish second at the Lenoir-Rhyne/Catawba Chick-Fil-A Intercollegiate

HICKORY, N.C. -- The Carson-Newman women's golf team turned in a two-day total of 695 (+119) to claim second place at the 36-hole Lenoir-Rhyne/Catawba Chick-Fil-A Intercollegiate Tuesday at Lake Hickory Country Club.
The Lady Eagles shaved 13 strokes off of their day one score by shooting a 341 on Tuesday to finish the tournament 10 strokes back of South Atlantic Conference foe Wingate, which won the event with a score of 685 (+109). Lenoir-Rhyne finished third with a 696 (+120).
Three Lady Eagles finished in the top 10. C-N sophomore Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) claimed sole possession of third place by carding a second round 79 to give her a two-day total of 163 (+19).
Junior Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) shaved 10 strokes off her day one score as she fired a 79 to finish in a tie for fifth place with a 168 (+24).
Freshman Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) shot an 85 on Tuesday to finish in ninth place, while Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) turned in a 98 to tie for 23rd place.
Catawba's Kelsey Babos won individual medalist honors in a playoff over L-R's Brenna Martens. Both golfers finished with a two-day total of 160 (+16).
The Lady Eagles return to action on March 29 at the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Invitational at the Old Sycamore Golf Plantation in Charlotte, N.C.
