Lady Eagles Jump to 11th in the Latest NSCAA Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The Carson-Newman women's soccer team moved
up six spots to No. 11 in the Division II National Soccer Coaches'
Association of America poll, NSCAA officials announced Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles (4-0) are the only South Atlantic Conference team
listed in the national top 25. C-N is also ranked second in the
Southeast Region.
Seattle Pacific (Wash.) is listed as the No. 1 team in the nation
after winning the Division II National Championship in 2008.
West Florida, Saint Rose (N.Y.), Grand Valley State (Mich.) and
Incarnate Word (Texas) round out the top five.
Columbus State of the Peach Belt Conference holds the top spot in
the Southeast Region, while Armstrong Atlantic State is third.
Other schools listed in the regional rankings from the SAC are
Tusculum (sixth), Lenoir-Rhyne (seventh), Catawba (eighth) and
Wingate (10th).
Three automatic berths to the NCAA Division II Southeast Region
Tournament in November will be awarded to the tournament champions
of the SAC, Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas. Three teams will
also receive at-large berths.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday at 6:15 p.m. against
Lynn University in Milledgeville, Ga.
