Lady Eagles Start Fast in 8-1 win over University of the Cumberlands
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles won their fourth match of the season with a convincing 8-1 defeat of the University of the Cumberlands on Wednesday afternoon in Jefferson City.
The Eagles started quickly with a sweep of the doubles matches, and then won five of the six singles matches. Seniors Amanda Bartlett (Powder Springs, GA) and Elizabeth Sneed (Kingsport, TN) led the way with wins in singles and doubles.
Junior Taryn Cappadona (junior, Kennesaw, GA) and sophomores
Kylie Elliott (Maryville, TN) and Stephanie Goode (Maryville, TN)
also notched singles and doubles wins for the Lady Eagles. Another
Maryville native, freshman Megan Wilson, teamed with Goode to win a
point for the Lady Eagles at #3 doubles.
The Lady Eagles are now 4-0 overall and begin South Atlantic
Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Harrogate, Tenn. to
take on Lincoln Memorial University. Match time is 1 p.m.
