Lady Eagles Shutout Newberry, 9-0

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles lost just seven games en route to a 9-0 South Atlantic Conference win over visiting Newberry on Saturday afternoon in Jefferson City.

With the win, C-N improves to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in SAC play, while Newberry falls to 0-10 overall.

Junior Elizabeth Sneed (Kingsport, Tenn.) posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Newberry's Rebekah Crouch (Saluda, S.C.) at No. 2 singles, as well combining with Cassie Moulton (Maryville, Tenn.) for an 8-0 win at No.2 doubles.

Freshman Kylie Elliott (Maryville, Tenn.) and sophomore Taryn Cappadonna (Kennesaw, Ga.) both posted shutouts in singles action, winning at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

Freshman Kate Walker (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) also won for the Lady Eagles at No. 6 singles, dropping Denise Williams (Blackville, S.C.) 6-0, 6-1.

C-N returns to action on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. against North Georgia in Jefferson City. Newberry will host Catawba on April 14 at 2 p.m.
