Carson-Newman's Stephanie Cutter Wins South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Carson-Newman College's Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week, league officials announced today. This is the first time this season and the first time since Oct. 13, 2008 that a Lady Eagle has been named league player of the week.

This is Cutter's first career selection as player of the week.

The senior setter racked up 55 assists Tuesday night in a 3-1 SAC victory against Tusculum at home, one off her career-high. Cutter also recorded 15 digs to complete the double-double on the night.

"I was impressed with her performance on Sept. 19 against Newberry when she collected 45 assists," said Head Coach Shannon Mincey. "The following Tuesday night against Tusculum, I wrote 50 on our line-up sheet beside her name. She asked me what that number meant, and I kidded her saying that is your goal for assists tonight. She smiled and said, 'OK'. To my surprise she surpassed that. I am pleased she has been recognized for her talents and efforts."

Cutter is joined by Wingate's Stormi Gale in receiving weekly honors.

The SAC Volleyball Player and Specialist of the Week are voted on by the staff of the league office.
