Carson-Newman’s Cutter Garners SAC Specialist of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Carson-Newman’s Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) has been named South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.

Cutter wins the award for a second straight week and the third time this season.

"Stephanie works hard for her team and without their hard work she and our team wouldn’t be recognized," said Head Coach Shannon Mincey. "Cutter's intensity during practice and matches challenges our team to excel. She would agree that our serve receive and defense allowed her to open up hitters for a one-on-one situation."

The senior setter helped lead the Lady Eagles to a 3-0 record on the week as she posted two double-doubles and was a kill and two digs away from a triple-double. On Tuesday against Mars Hill, Cutter had 19 assists, nine kills and eight digs, as the Lady Eagles won by a score of 3-0.

She posted 34 assists and 17 digs for her seventh double-double of the season on Friday in a win over Lenoir-Rhyne and followed that performance up with a week-high 35 assists and 13 digs on Saturday in a 3-0 victory over Brevard. C-N hit .291 on the week thanks to Cutter's setting, as she posted eight assists per set.

Joining Cutter with weekly honors is Wingate outside hitter Lauren Billo (Orland Park, Ill.), who was named SAC Volleyball Player of the Week. Billo also wins the honor for a second consecutive week.

The South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player and Specialist of the Week are selected by the staff of the SAC league office.
