Carson-Newman’s Stephanie Cutter Named All-Southeast Region Honorable Mention By The AVCA

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Carson-Newman senior setter Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) was selected as an honorable mention All-Southeast Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) after a strong senior season. The senior capped off an impressive career, leading the Lady Eagles to their first-ever NCAA Division II tournament win on Nov. 19 over Catawba, and a 23-10 overall record with a 12-4 mark in South Atlantic Conference play.

Cutter, who finished her career at C-N with 2,548 assists, 932 digs, 234 kills and 77 service aces, was also named SAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week three times this season and garnered All-SAC Second-Team honors.

Carson-Newman reached the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Tournament the past two seasons behind Cutter’s leadership after finishing second in the SAC regular season both years.

In the 2009 Southeast Region Tournament Quarterfinals, the Lady Eagles won an emotional match over the Lady Indians, 3-2 to advance to the second round. C-N fell to Wingate the next evening, 3-0, to conclude a third-straight 20-win season and the fourth under Head Coach Shannon Mincey.
