Carson-Newman’s James earns All-Region honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman's Nikki James has been named to the 2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II Southeast Region Volleyball team.
James was the nation's leading blocker for much of the second straight season. She is averaging 1.61 blocks per set, which is second in Division II (by .01). She has 69 block solos and 111 block assists on the year.

Lady Eagles push top-seeded Wingate to five sets, fall 3-2 in SAC Tournament
HARROGATE, Tenn. — Six points was all it took to steal away No. 8-seeded Carson-Newman College’s storybook ending. After trailing 2-0, the Lady Eagles volleyball team did what no team has been able to do this season, force the Wingate Lady Bulldogs into a fifth and deciding set. In the end, the breaks went top-seeded Wingate’s way and they held on to a 3-2 victory in the opening round of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament.

Mars Hill topples C-N on Tuesday night, 3-0
MARS HILL, N.C. - Mars Hill's Marissa Wixson posted a season-high 20 kills and to go along with 14 digs and led her team to a three-set match victory over Carson-Newman on Tuesday inside Stanford Arena. The Lions (13-11, 8-10 South Atlantic Conference) defeated the Lady Eagles (15-13, 5-11) by scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-20.

Lady Eagles handle Maryville in four sets, 3-1
MARYVILLE, TENN. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles surrendered a tight second set, but controlled the other three to beat Maryville College on the road in non-conference play on Thursday night, 3-1.
C-N won by a score of 25-13, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-18, to improve to 15-12 overall.

Lady Eagles are No. 7 in NCAA Volleyball Regional Rankings
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles are seventh in this week’s NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Rankings, released late Wednesday.
C-N is trying to make its fourth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The top eight teams in the poll advance to the Southeast Regional Tournament, which begins the weekend of Nov. 17.

The Wolves rallied from a 10-6 deficit in the fifth set to improve to 12-12 and 5-9 in SAC play. C-N falls to 14-11 overall and 5-9 in SAC play.

The win breaks a three-game losing streak for the Lady Eagles, who are 13-10 on the season with a 4-4 record at home.

Lady Eagles extend win streak to six at Beach Bash; Top Davis and Elkins, thump JCSU
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles beat Davis and Elkins, 3-1, and swept Johnson C. Smith, 3-0, to extend its season-high win streak to six matches after Friday’s two wins at the Pepsi Beach Bash in West Palm Beach, Fla.
With the wins, the Lady Eagles are now 11-6 on the season and will face Shepherd University and Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman middle hitter Nikki James (Cookeville, Tenn.) has been named SAC Player of the Week, and Mars Hill libero Maggie Murphy is the league's Specialist of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
James led Carson-Newman to a 3-0 week that has the Eagles back among the top teams in the SAC standings.

Anderson sweeps Lady Eagles on Friday night
ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson volleyball team took advantage of Carson-Newman miscues to defeat the Lady Eagles, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-19) in South Atlantic Conference action Friday night at the Abney Athletic Center.
Following a five-day layoff, Anderson (5-8, 3-1 SAC) claimed its second straight victory and has won three of its last four outings, while Carson-Newman slipped to 5-6 overall and 0-5 in the league and has dropped three of its last four contests.

Lady Eagles push Wingate; Fall to Bulldogs, 3-1
Jefferson City, Tenn.---- The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles saw a six-point lead late in the third set slip away, en route to falling to visiting 19th-ranked Wingate University, 3-1 on Friday night in Jefferson City.
Wingate pushed its league-record SAC winning streak to 65 matches in the conference opener for both teams. Wingate won by scores of 25-10, 20-25, 25-23 and 25-13 to improve to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the SAC. The Eagles fall to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Lady Eagles report to camp; Begin preparations for 2011 season
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles and eighth-year head coach Shannon Mincey reported to preseason camp on Monday to begin preparations for the 2011 volleyball season.
The Lady Eagles have put together back-to-back seasons in which they have reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, most recently on the strength of an opening-round win over rival Tusculum.
