Former Vanessa Kinsler-Smith begins her first season as an assistant coach with the Lady Eagles program.
A 2009 Carson-Newman graduate and former Lady Eagle volleyball standout, Kinsler-Smith is pursuing her master’s in education from C-N with a an emphasis in K-6th grade.
Since graduating from C-N, she has been a director for Jenny Craig Weight Loss Center in Knoxville. She has also spent time as a volunteer for the Smoky Mountain Volleyball Club, and currently teaches middle school Sunday school.
After transferring from Tusculum College after her freshman year, Kinsler-Smith played two seasons for the Lady Eagles, from 2006-2007.
As a Lady Eagle, Kinsler-Smith was a part of two teams that combined to go 40-26 over two seasons. She amassed 81 kills and 51 blocks during her career. In her final season as a student assistant, the Lady Eagles reached their first NCAA Tournament under Mincey, the beginning of three-straight appearances to date.
As a student at C-N, Kinsler-Smith was member of the C-N Dean’s List while earning her bachelor’s degree in applied psychology.
She is married to Daniel Smith, they reside in Knoxville and attend First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville.
